Dear Brother or Sister in Christ,
The Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church has served as one of the religious pillars in the Valdosta Area for over a quarter century. During this time, our mission continues to be to glorify the Lord, to win souls and to minister to them in the ways of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the community in which we are based. Our ministry of uplift is carried out through providing moral, spiritual, and physical nourishment for those who desire it. It is not limited to the surrounding community but is extended to anyone that is in need of spiritual guidance, fellowship and brotherhood.
We at Mt. Pisgah are a God fearing congregation and thus we follow his word. Therefore, we yield to the Bible as the ultimate authority of this word. In accordance with our acknowledgment of the Bible as the authority of God's word, the church follows four (4) principle beliefs.
Here at Mt. Pisgah we believe:
1.) In the Holy Trinity (One God, The Father, with Jesus, The Son and the Holy Spirit) and one God in three (3) persons. Biblical evidence comes from Deuteronomy 6:4, "Here, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord." And also we believe in One Lord, one faith, one baptism. Ephesians 4:5
2.)
In the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures. Inspiration is a
reference to the controlling influence which God exerts over the
authors of the Old and New Testament. Biblical Support is
found in 2 Peter 1:21, "For
the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but Holy men
of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit."
Further evidence is found in 2 Timothy 3:16,17. "All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnish unto all good works."
3.) In the wicked nature of man. Man is naturally sinful and given to depravity, without God he is completely lost.
For our invitational services we have adopted the Roman's Rule.
I. Romans 3:23, "For
all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God."
II. Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sins is death. But the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
III. Romans 10:9,10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath
raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with
mouth confession is made unto salvation."
4.) In the canonicity and authority of the Holy Scriptures. That is the authority resides in the Holy Scriptures. They declare God's will to ecclesiastical councils and human government. God's Word not only proclaims His assured purposes, but also, sets forth a penalty which must follow if man disobeys the Word of God. God is the ultimate authority.
May it be known that our ministry is wide and utmost importance and if there are any questions about our doctrines, we stand ready to answer them.
Humbly Yours,
Reverend Brantley L. McCollough Sr.
