From Seboomock Lake:

match the unique beauty of the North Maine Woods! If you are traveling on the
Golden Road, there are numerous places to view the West Branch of the Penobscot
River especially near Abol Bridge Campground, Pray's Big Eddy, and Ripogenus
Dam.
The West
Branch of the Penobscot River starts at the Southeast end of Seboomock Lake (see
DeLorme's 'The Maine Atlas and Gazetteer, Map 48, 49, 50, 51)
