Recommended Day Hikes in New Hampshire:

The Oliverian Brook Trail:
The Trailhead is located off Rt. 112 (Kancamagus Highway) approximately 1 mile west of the Bear Notch Rd. Good hike for the Family! A lot of moose in this area! Trail connects to the Passaconaway Cutoff at 1.9 miles. Some wet areas, follows the Oliverian Brook for .5 miles.

The Sawyer Pond Trail:
Trailhead is located 0.6 miles east of Passaconaway Campground and 1.4 miles west of Bear Notch Rd. Only difficult section of this trail is right at the beginning where the trail crosses the Swift River. Better to do this one in the summer especially if you have children. River in the spring is wide, deep and Fast! Once you get across, the hike is fairly easy. Connects to the Nanamocomuck Ski Trail, and at 4.5 miles, Sawyer Pond. *Note: In the field at the beginning of the trail, (before the river crossing), if you follow the moose trails off to the right through the woods, you will find 3 rock chimneys, still intact. All three are not visable from each other, but can be found by going through the woods in that area...Watch out for moose because you are right in back of the moose bog off the Kancamagus Highway. High Moose traffic area!!!

The Sawyer River Trail:
Awesome trail especially if you have young children!..I usually start out on the Kancamagus Highway end.
The Trailhead is located 3.1 miles west of the Sabbaday Falls parking lot and .6 miles east of Lily Pond. Parking is very limited here and the Trailhead signs can be easily missed. The trail itself starts out quickly at a brook crossing where the rocks slope down into the water. Perfect place for a picnic and a quick swim in the summer months. Water may be high in the Spring! The rest of the hike is quite easy and scenic. Lots of bog bridges and beaver lodges. Have seen moose several times in the bogs off the trails. Trail goes 3.8 miles to the Sawyer River Rd. with fantastic views of Mt. Carrigain and Mt. Tremont along the way...River crossings are high and dangerous in the Spring so it would be better to do this one in the summer months. One of the better hikes if you have children. It's fairly flat, trail changes, (has lot's of bridges, bog bridges, swamps, wildlife, etc...) so they don't get bored !

Sabbaday Brook Trail

The Trailhead for the Sabbaday Brook Trail is located at the Sabbaday Falls Picnic Area, west of the Bear Notch Rd. and Sawyer River Trail...It takes you to the 'Col' between North and Middle Tripyramid in approximately 4.9 miles.

The trail starts out following the Sabbaday Brook, reaching the first of a series of three crossings at 0.7 mile. Can be tough if the water level is high.
At 2.8 miles, it crosses the brook for the fourth time and heads west, then northwest, then up the valley between Tripyramid and the Fool Killer. The trail passes the base of a small slide on the Fool Killer at 3.7 miles, crosses the brook for the seventh and last time at the head of the ravine at 4.1 miles., Meets the Pine Bend Brook Trail and the Mount Tripyramid Trail just north of the 'col' between North and Middle tripyramid at 4.9 miles. If you turn right, you'll be at the North Peak in half a mile or if you turn left, you'll be at the Middle peak in 0.3 mile.
