Merry Mount Summer Camp

Register for Merry Mount Summer Programs.  At Merry Mount your children and young adults can enjoy lots of riding from beginner to advanced levels with skilled instruction in basics, jumping, combined training, practical dressage, and stable management. Your kids will enjoy trail rides, recreational activities, and make friends with other campers and the Merry Mount horses! Call (304) 274-9351 or send in your registration form now to get your campers into the session(s) that you want.

Oneness Between Horse & Rider

Experience the relaxed and natural communication between horse and rider that allows you to reach your maximum potential in any horse discipline--be it pleasure riding, jumping, or the higher levels of dressage. Improved riding skills lead to greater fulfillment of your personal riding goals, and for the younger rider, a summer of new friends and fun!

Learn Proper Horse Care...

Most horse people want to learn everything possible about the care and maintenance of their horses, as well as riding and training skills. Merry Mount provides young riders with both hands-on practice and classroom activities which teach good horse and stable management. Safety procedures are part of our everyday training and practice work.

Safety at Merry Mount

A hard hat is mandatory. You may use one of your own or one of the school hats. At Merry Mount, safety is of the utmost importance.

Camp Staff

Our trained staff is all ready to show you a great camp experience. Our motto--"All horses all the time"--puts lots of smiles on campers and staff faces. We know you came to be immersed in horses, and we hope you'll be back every summer.

Marie Fogarty

Director of the Merry Mount Riding and Training Center, Marie Fogarty, has been trained in classical French dressage. For over thirty years, she has shown, taught riding, trained all types of horses, and managed horse facilities. Besides offering riding, training clinics, summer camp, and shows and lectures, Marie has created the well-stocked 'Tack Shelter' equestrian shop on-site to supply the needs of horses and riders.

Meals and Housing

Day campers will be served lunch and may want to bring a mid-morning snack. Overnight campers will be provided with all meals and bunk on the property.

Stabling

Horses may be boarded on-site during the week(s) of camp attendance for $10 per night. A current Coggins test is required and it is strongly recommended that all shots be current.

Schedule

Day campers should arrive at 7:00 a.m. and be picked up at 3:00 p.m. each day*. Overnight campers should arrive between 7 & 9 p.m. Sunday evening and be picked up Friday evening after our session finale! A presentation will end the week on Friday at 6:00 p.m. All campers may participate, and family & friends are invited. Please note that if you will be picking up a camper before the finale, Merry Mount staff needs to know in advance.

*Note: Young Riders camp begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.
