THE JOHANN AND SOPHIA SCHULT GRAVES (SG 38 + 39 R47)

Johann Schult and Sophia Nietz Schult were my paternal great-great grandparents who emigrated to America around 1875 with their children John C. Schult (my great-grandfather), Ludwig Schult, Joachim Schult, Friedrich Schult, Fredericka Schult Wolff and Wilhelmina Schult Wagenknecht. Johann and Sophia died in the Greece/Parma NY area where most of their children and their families lived, but they were buried in Mt. Hope in the old Single Grave area which is now greatly overgrown.

C.Carl and Caroline Steinmiller Sodemann were my paternal great-great-grandparents. Carl Sodemann emigrated about 1865 with his mother Frederika and his siblings from Alt Pannekow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. Caroline Steinmiller emigrated about 1866 from Ehmkendorf, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. They lived on Mark Street in Rochester NY and had nine children, only some of whom are buried in this plot. It was purchased in 1898 by Caroline. She had her husband's casket moved at that time from it's original grave in another part of the cemetery.

My direct descendant is their daughter Mary SodemannSchult, wife of John C. Schult, my paternal geat-grandparents. Through my research, I have met my cousin Robin Sodeman, grand-daughter of C. Carl and Caroline Sodemann's son, John Charles Sodemann (who is buried elsewhere in Mt. Hope)!

John and Mary Schult's daughter Carrie F. Kerber is buried in the plot with her husband, William Herbert Kerber. They are my paternal grandparents.
