STUFF TO DO
Sandwich is a great town to stroll around, weather permitting of course. It is the oldest town on the Cape (founded 1639) and is everything youd want in the quaint New England sea-side. The place is lousy with history and whatnot....
Here are a few sites you might like to visit (in no particular order)
Official Sandwich MA Site
The Boardwalk
In nice weather, The Boardwalk is a not-to-be-missed Sandwich landmark. Running from the town, over the salt marshes
and out to the beaches and sand dunes, this beautiful wooden Boardwalk was completely rebuilt after being destroyed
in a hurricane. Take a stroll out, but take a jacket; it can get cool and blustery on the bay!
Sandwich Glass Museum
109 Main St.
See American glass arts at their very finest.
Heritage Plantation
67 Grove St.
Antique autos, a carousel, gardens, folk art...wow. A little smattering of everything!
Hoxie House
Rte 130 on Shawme Pond, Sandwich Center
Thought to be the oldest house on Cape Cod (c.1675)
Dexter Grist Mill
Rte 130 on Shawme Pond, Sandwich Center (c. 1654)
Thornton W. Burgess House
Rte 130 on Shawme Pond, Sandwich Center

Rte 6A is rife with antique shops. Here's a great place to start browsing!
Greenbriar Nature Center and Jam Kitchen
6 Discovery Hill Rd. East Sandwich
A fine place for a stroll, and gettin' all jammy. Don't forget to bring some peanut butter.

109 Main St.
Aside from being a great museum, they have some wonderful glass by local artisans for sale.

if they are working in the studio when you visit to see magic in action.
Shawme Pond Pottery

A favorite, this tiny little studio features some beautiful pottery based on leaf designs and the traditional English
"Greenman". A place to get an original signed piece of art at a reasonable price.
The Spectrum
369 Rte 6A, Brewster MA
About a 35 minute ride out on 6A is this great shop featuring jewelry, sculpture, furnitue, textiles etc.
by contemporary American artists. Worth the drive!
Route 6A
.
As you may have noticed, there's alot on Rte 6A - far too many places to mention individually. Take a ride and stop on a whim!
BEACHES
Some of the beaches in Sandwich are for residents only, so be aware if you visit. The Boardwalk is not to be missed, and Sandy Neck is considered to be one of the Capes finest, with its dunes and sawgrass
GROCERIES, PHARMACIES, etc...
People do live on the Cape year round, and that means they have to do everyday shopping as well. The easiest place to pick up your forgotten sundries, late night munchies or other comestibles is at the Shop & Save plaza. You should be able to find anything you might need, including a liquor store.

OUTSIDE SANDWICH
In late April, the Cape is still relatively unpolluted by tourists which should make getting around pretty easy. Its only about an hour drive up to Boston, an hour out to Provincetown and a short hop down to Woods Hole to catch the ferry to Marthas Vineyard. (Nantucket is a bit too far for a day trip).
One thing WE are sure to do though is take the ride out to Yarmouth on 6a to visit the Edward Gorey house (You may know him better as the artist who did the macabre opening sequences for PBS "MYSTERY"). Im a big fan of his work!
It would be difficult to write down everything, but you cant go wrong taking a leisurely shopping tour down Route 6a out to the Lower Cape great antiques, books, arts etc. On the south shore, Route 128 is not as picturesque, but you can ride it through Falmouth, Hyannis and out to Chatham.
