Lightning Photographs

This was nowhere near as close as it looks. I wish I had the lightning strike on the right captured in its entirety, but you get what you get.

These bottom two photos are of a lightning storm 10 to 15 miles away. Friends of ours in South Dayton, NY were getting rocked by a thunderstorm while as you can barely discern from the photos (note the stars), the skies were clear here. The first of these images reminds me of the main character from that Tim Curry Christmas movie, while the second conjures up visions of what a lava flow or forest fire might look like.
A humorous side note to these pictures. While standing across the street taking them at 2 am there was suddenly screaming and one heck of a racket from the house. Seems a bat managed to work its way between the storm window and screen and got into bed with my eldest daughter. It didn't take long to chase the invader out the door and get things back to semi-normal.
