Open Clusters

image An open cluster is a group of stars that were born at roughly the same time and are loosely bound by gravity.

Getting Started

The very brightest open clusters are visible with the naked eye. Using binoculars, take a look at the Pleiades (M45) and the Beehive Cluster (M44). Other bright open clusters include the Wild Duck Cluster (M11), the Double Cluster, and M52.
