The American Heritage Dictionary (New College Edition 1978) defines fascism as follows: "A philosophy or system of government that advocates or exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with an ideology of belligerent nationalism."
The Bush administration was quick to declare that "terrorists" in the middle east were "Islamo-fascists." Apparently these fascists are atypical, since they seem to have very little state support and absolutely no support from business leaders. It might be more appropriate to look for modern fascism where collusion of state and business leadership is more prevalent, and where the extreme right exercises inordinate influence. I wonder where that might be; perhaps the Bush White House?
The elections of 2006 showed that most Americans are fed up with that which might be called "crypto-fascism." Because of the continuing coverup by members of the Crypto-fascist Interogation Agency (CIA), no one knows just how much extraordinary rendition, torture, murder and spying upon our citizens continues to occur in the name of "homeland security", since secrecy is paramount in such a state. It is, of course, disappointing that many of the instigators of such policies have simply resigned and gone into hiding, and not a one has been prosecuted. One can only hope that some semblance of democracy will be restored after George W. Bush is out of the White House, and we can start trying to repair the damage that his administration has inflicted upon our country.
Unfortunately, time is growing very short. The world's population continues to grow exponentially, doubling within fifty years, and almost no one dares to mention that the Earth is of finite area and finite resources. Moreover, under the meism promoted by those of the capitalist faith, the ever larger population is encouraged to consume more and more resources, with no thought to the impact of such activity upon the Earth and the other creatures with which we share this planet. At present no nation is more culpable of destroying the Earth than is the United States of America, but just think what will happen if China follows our abominable lead!
Wherever on this Earth you live, won't you join those of us who want to find a new way of life that is friendly toward the environment? Please see what you can do to help correct the abuses of decades of corporate and state-sponsored meism!
