2008 NYFAB INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

 

1           A "NYFAB Indoor 450 Round" will be shot.  The round shall consist of 45 arrows, shot as three games, at a distance of 20 yards.  Each game shall consist of 5 ends of 3 arrows per end.  There will be 2 practice ends.

2          The target shall be either the "Vegas 3-spot" face or the "40 cm. Vegas" face.

3          Entrants may choose to shoot either the 40 cm. single-spot target or the 3-spot target.  Archers must use the same target face throughout the round.

4          Cubs will shoot at 10 yards.

5          Time limit:  Timing light standards will be employed for the 2 minutes 30 seconds allowed per end.

            **         Green light:  signifies start of shooting, stays on for 2 minutes 30 seconds.

            **         Yellow light: comes on at 2 minutes and goes off at 2 minutes 30 seconds.

**         Red light:  comes on at 2 minutes, 25 seconds and stays on alone from 2 minutes 30 seconds on.

Note: No arrow may be drawn prior to the initial green light or after the final red light.  You may shoot an arrow on red light only if you are at full draw and do not let down.

6          Shooters will be called to shooting line by a whistle.  Do not approach line prior to whistle.

7          No one is allowed on shooting floor except officials and archers shooting the line.

8          Equipment failure:  An official should be summoned to handle the situation.  The archer will have 15 minutes       repair time without holding up the tournament.  The archer shall be allowed to shoot any arrows missed during the 15 minutes.  One practice end will be allowed.  All make-up arrows will be shot at the end of the round.

9          All shooters will straddle the shooting line in a reasonably even fashion.

10         No smoking is allowed in the shooting area except in designated areas.

11          Upon completion of each end, please step away from the shooting line exercising courtesy to the shooters on both sides of you.

12         Any arrow propelled beyond the 10-foot foul line is considered a shot arrow.

13         Your target assignment by the registration committee is final.  You remain on the same target throughout the entire round. No switching from top to bottom.  Bottom targets shoot first.

14         Witnessed bounce outs and pass through in the scoring area can be re-shot.  Summon an official to handle the situation.  Arrows hanging from the front or rear of the target butt must be handled by a tournament             official.  Do not touch the arrow!

15         No arrow may be touched prior to the completion of scoring all arrows in the butt.

16         No alcoholic beverages (or use of nonprescription, mood altering drugs) are allowed while participating in the tournament.  Violators will be automatically disqualified.

17         Pro Division for all NFAA Pros only.

18         Any abusive language will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic disqualification from the tournament.

19         Single spot face scoring: X-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0. 3-spot face scoring: X-10-9-8-7-6-0.  X's for each end will be recorded for tie breaking purposes.  An arrow shaft need only to touch the line to be counted in the area of next higher value.

20         Each group will elect a target captain who will call the scores of all arrows on their target butt.  Any discrepancies or questionable arrows must be handled by an official.

21         Each group will decide which 2 shooters will keep score.  Be certain all boxes are filled in on the score card.  Alterations on score cards are to be made by drawing a line through the wrong number and entering the correct number alongside.

22         Upon completion of the round, all score cards are to be signed by both scorekeepers along with the shooter, (i.e.: 3 signatures are required on the bottom of the card).

23         Each individual is responsible for turning in both of their score cards, whether complete or not, within 30 minutes of the completion of the round.  If no score is turned in, the contestant will be disqualified.  In cases of discrepancies between two score cards, the lower score will be used.

24         All tie scores will be broken by total X count.

25         NFAA flight system will be used with a maximum of 15 archers per flight.

26         If an archer shoots more than 3 arrows in an end, only the lowest 3 arrows will be scored.

            A penalty of one (1) point will be assessed for each arrow shot over the prescribed number.

27         An archer may shoot the 3-spot target in any order.  One arrow is allowed per spot on the 3-spot target face.  If there is more than one arrow in a single spot, only the lowest scoring arrow will count.

28         Equipment will be checked at random for compliance with NFAA rules in Barebow, Traditional, Bowhunter, Bowhunter Freestyle, Bowhunter Freestyle Limited and Freestyle Limited Recurve/Longbow.  Anyone found shooting non-compliant equipment will be disqualified.

29         All Protests or Grievances must be submitted in writing to the Tournament Chairman within 30 minutes of the alleged violation.  All Protests or Grievances must be accompanied by a $10 fee, which will be refunded if the protest/grievance is upheld.

30         Any additions to these rules will be determined by the rules committee consisting of: NYFAB President, 1st V.P., 2nd V.P. and Tournament Chairman.
