It's been a while since this site has been updated. I extend my apologies to those who look to this site for information on the Town of Harrisburg. Finding time to manage the web site while managing the challenges of regular town business and the requirements of the wind farm project all while balancing the time requirements of driving school bus at South Jeff have had their effect on available time. A renewed effort will be made to keep the web site current. A new (second) newsletter is in the works and will be delivered soon. In the meantime, check out the NEWS and BULLETINS pages for some updates.

Harrisburg Town Board Approves New Land Use Permit Fee Schedule
Operating under the precept that land use permit fees should align with the costs incurred to issue and process them, the Town Board has approved a new fee schedule. This schedule considers the number of meetings that the planning board would likely have (members are paid for each meeting). Permits requiring legal notice publication incur added expense. Currently a planning board meeting costs taxpayers $130.00, but the old permit fee was only $25.00. Travel expenses and salary expense of the code enforcement officer should also be appropriated to the town's cost to process a permit.
In addition to the new fee schedule, the land use permits have been updated to provide clearer instructions and better information to the applicant and the Town. All forms are available online here, from the Town Clerk or Louis Chambers, the code enforcement officer. Mr. Chambers can be contacted at (315) 688-2327.
