We are replacing our business meeting with a meeting at Paula's house to decorate the float. Refreshments and fun are in store for those who wish to help. The workshop is Saturday, July 19th at the Moosehead Riders snowmobile club house in Greenville. Pizza will be provided, but bring your own drinks. November 16 , 2004 (Tuesday)

This is our November business meeting.
Please note the night change for Nov. and Dec. business meetings! Also, this month's workshop, Nov. 20th, will be held at the Beaver Cove community room in the new town hall. We will be working on Linus quilts for Eastern Maine Project Linus, as well as fleece mittens for Coats for Tots.

Block of the Month - November

The Maple Leaf block is due. The leaf is fall colors (single or multiple colors for leaf sections), and background is white or off-white.
You can find a colorful example on Marcia Hohn's site, http://www.quilterscache.com. Contact us if you have any questions on inserting the stem. An alternate method is to cut a stem 1-1/2" x 7", fold to meet long sides in middle of the back of the stem, press and topstitch to the 4-1/2" background block; trim block to 4-1/2" before joining to others. Your completed block should measure 12-1/2" (includes seam allowance). Click leaf block to see the blocks won!

The Cat and Pumpkin block is due. The appliques may be hand or machine stitched. The cat is black or black print, the pumpkin any orange, and background is white or off-white. Patterns are available at meetings. If you need assistance, please contact us. Remember that your block should measure 12-1/2" (including the 1/4" seam allowances. When sewn into a quilt, the block will measure 12".

This is our September business meeting. Linus Quilt fabric will be gathered and pattern ideas discussed for our Sept. workshop.
The workshop this month (Sept. 25) is the making of quilts for the Linus Project.

The Dutchman's Puzzle block is due. The geese are fall colors, background is white or off-white. Patterns are available at meetings. If you need assistance, please contact us. Remember that your block should measure 12-1/2" (including the 1/4" seam allowances - don't cut off the points of the flying geese!). When sewn into a quilt, the block will measure 12".

This is our July business meeting. There will be a dresden plate demo by Candy R.

This was our April business meeting. We had great fun on our Quilt Shop Hop, April 24th.

Color Wheel Demonstration

In preparation for our Quilt Shop Hop, we will have a demonstration of the color wheel given by Joanna Ellis. You will see how the color wheel works as we use it to choose various color combinations for future quilts. The color wheel can enhance your color creativity!.

An excellent resource is 'Color Magic for Quilters' by Ann Seely and Joyce Stewart, published by Rodale Press.

Simply Quilts on HGTV had an episode with Joen Wolfrom on the 'The Full Spectrum: Color in Quilts' that aired in November 2003.

Robert Detenbeck, Professor Emeritus at the University of Vermont, has a great little educational color program available from his web page.
