Fabric Requirements

§ Center square at least 6" sq.

§ Fabrics for braid 1/8 yd of 6 fabrics

§ Narrow border/binding 1/2 yd

§ Wide border 1/2 yd

§ Backing/Batting at least 20" x 60" pieces

The fabrics in the braid look great if chosen from light to dark to create 3D effect.

Cutting Directions

If you wish, you may pre-cut your fabrics before the workshop.

§ Cut one 6" square for center

§ From each of the 6 fabrics, cut one 2 1/2" strip

o From each of the strips, sub-cut into Two 2-1/2" x 6" rectangles and Two 2-1/2" x 8" rectangles

§ Narrow border/binding:

o Cut Three 1-1/2" strips and cut Four 2-3/4" strips for binding

§ Wide border:

o Cut Four 3-1/2" strips

Sewing machine

Walking foot (optional, but recommended)

Washable or disappearing fabric marker

Pins, matching or neutral thread

Normal sewing supplies, including scissors, rotary cutter, mat, rulers, etc.
