HCAR or Huntingdon County Amateur Radio is a amateur radio club located in central Pennsylvania. One purpose of our organization is to promote fellowship and fun with our local ham community. We also provide emergency communication for ARES other emergency organizations within the county.
We have been a club since November 20, 1958. The club original officers were Millard Cramer, President; Joe Lister, Vic-President; Robert Eichelberger, Secretary; Bernard Swartz, Treasure. The original Board of directors were: George Appleby, Earl Booth, R. Glenn Corbin, Ralph Cramer, Charles David, John Garner, Ralph Garner, Thomas Howell, Joe Meyash, Harry Snyder, Warren Yocum, Richard Stotler.
We are located in the county of Huntingdon in south central Pennsylvania. The major tourist attraction to this area is Raystown Dam and Lake. Raystown Lake is both a flood control and recreation lake. Raystown is the largest lake wholly within the state of Pennsylvania. We are a small club that has gone through both good and bad times. We are currently expanding our membership and have a new club house. A picture of our club house as of 1997 is available below in the Club Meeting area.
